Meanwhile, on Mars, Lian starts to hear rumors of a huge breakthrough; the creation of a digital lifeform. She visits the Martian labs to learn more and is greeted by a young woman scientist called Heida. Heida starts the tour by inviting Lian to look under a microscope at two samples; one of a human brain and the other of a digital brain. To Lian's surprise, they look quite similar, except that the cells of a digital brain are far smaller and more numerous. Heida explains that both brains work on similar principles, but because of the improvements in materials and architecture, a digital brain operates about a thousand times faster than a biological brain. In addition, because a digital mind can be coded as ones and zeroes, it can be copied and moved between digital brains. This confuses Lian, so Heida decides it's time for a real-life demonstration.
