2069: Taron can't convince Lian to leave before the colonies are destroyed by Earth.
Taron contacts Lian with an urgent secret message; Earth is about to launch a massive attack against Mars with advanced weapons that will be impossible to stop. He tells her that he is coming immediately in a scout ship to take her from Mars and save her from the holocaust. She protests strongly, telling him that she must stay and defend her homeland, but he ignores her protests and sets off for Mars. When he arrives, he finds her and tries to drag her to his ship, but she refuses and tells him she will stay there until the end. After a frenzied and frustrated attempt to pull her away, he leaves and watches in horror from his spacecraft as the weapons destroy the Mars colonies. Earth has just won the shortest war in history.
