2038: Ten spacecraft carry the Genesis project from Earth to Mars.
On the night of July 4th, ten spacecraft take off without warning from a remote tropical island on their journey to Mars. Zhen is piloting one of craft, each of which contains 20 colonists and the most advanced space, biological and computer technology ever created. On the same evening, many famous people vanish from around the world; all presumed to be on board the spacecraft. The news agencies do their best to unravel the mystery, and governments try to predict the political consequences. After landing on Mars, the colonists contact Earth and declare their independence. They tell Earth that they would like to maintain relations and trade technology in return for raw materials.
