Earth becomes progressively more fearful of Mars as the red planet demonstrates incredible technological advances. The attendees of the Genesis meeting that didn't agree with its goals stir up plenty of resentment against Mars. Earth finally decides that a pre-emptive strike on Mars is necessary before it becomes too powerful and a threat to Earth security. Rather that resort to traditional weapons, Earth launches an I.T. attack on Mars, hoping to take control of its computer systems and thus the colony. But the Martian minds are networked directly with their computer systems and their combined power easily defends against the more primitive Earth systems; Mars has already gone far beyond what Earth is capable of and no longer considers the blue planet a serious opponent.
